Glow in the Dark: What to Expect and How to Prepare Your ArtworkUpdated a month ago

Our glow-in-the-dark material has a special phosphorescent layer built into the sticker base. To get the best possible glow effect, it's important to understand how the material works and how your design interacts with it.

How Glow in the Dark Works

The glow effect comes from the material itself — not from the ink. This means that any area of the sticker covered by ink (your artwork) will block the glow. To improve print quality, we also apply a white underprint layer beneath the artwork. As a result, glow-in-the-dark stickers always have two layers of ink, which makes them slightly thicker than regular stickers and further reduces the glow in areas where artwork is present.

How to Get the Best Glow Effect

For the strongest glow, your design needs transparent areas — parts where no ink is printed — so the glow-in-the-dark material can shine through. If your artwork fully covers the sticker surface, the glow effect will only be visible around the border area.

Design Tips

  • Leave parts of your design transparent to let the glow material show through.
  • Consider using your design as an outline or silhouette, with the glow filling the open areas.
  • Keep in mind that the glow effect is most visible in the dark after the sticker has been exposed to light.
  • Avoid designs that cover the entire sticker surface if a strong glow effect is your priority.

What If My Design Fully Covers the Sticker?

If your design covers the entire surface, the glow will be limited to the small border area around the sticker's edge. The sticker will still print beautifully and maintain the high quality you'd expect, but the glow effect will be minimal.
