How to prepare your artwork for printing in Stickerize?Updated 5 months ago

Simplify your sticker creation with this quick guide! If you’re stuck at any point, leave us a comment in the editor, and we’ll gladly assist.

RGB vs. CMYK

Design Tip: Always work in CMYK mode from the start for accurate printing. Converting an RGB file to CMYK later may cause color shifts, and we can’t guarantee exact results.

How to Switch to CMYK:

  • In Photoshop

    1. Open your file.
    2. Navigate to Image → Mode → CMYK.
  • In Illustrator

    1. Open your file.
    2. Go to File → Document Color Mode → CMYK.

Understanding the RGB and CMYK differences is key to achieving vibrant, accurate colors.

Cutline Creation

Ensure your design’s dimensions match the exact size of your final sticker. Follow these steps for a custom cutline:

  1. Design your file as a vector.
  2. Duplicate your design onto a new layer.
  3. Use Pathfinder → Merge → Unite.
  4. Apply a spot color (0,100,0,0) and name it “die cut.”
  5. Go to Object → Path → Offset Path and set:
    • Offset: 2 mm (0.2 cm)
    • Miter Limit: 4

Effect Layers

For intricate designs, creating your own effect layer ensures the best results. If needed, we’re happy to assist—just leave a comment.

How to Create an Effect Layer:

  • Use Photoshop or Illustrator to isolate key design details.
  • Change their color or create a separate file highlighting the elements without the full design.

With these tips, you’ll have complete control over your sticker designs and ensure flawless printing every time!
