Material-Specific Border and Background Color OptionsUpdated a month ago

When designing your sticker, you might want to customize the border color or the background color inside the sticker to match your artwork. Whether this is possible depends on the material you choose.

Vinyl — Full Color Control

Vinyl is the only material that gives you full control over both the border color and the padding (inner background) color. This means you can:

  • Change the outer border color to match or complement your artwork.
  • Adjust the padding color (the inner area between your design and the border) to create a seamless look.
  • Match the background color of your artwork with the border color for a clean, unified appearance.

For example, if your design has a blue background, you can set the border color to the same shade of blue so the sticker looks like one continuous design with no visible border contrast.

Other Materials — Natural Finish Only

For all materials other than vinyl — such as holographic, glitter, kraft paper, clear, glow in the dark, and others — the border and background will always reflect the natural color and finish of the material itself. This is because each material has its own inherent visual properties (shimmer, texture, transparency, etc.), and applying a custom color would override those unique characteristics.

What this means in practice (examples):

  • Holographic material — the border area will show the holographic rainbow effect.
  • Clear/transparent material — the border area will be transparent.
  • Kraft paper — the border will have the natural brown kraft paper look.
  • Glow in the dark — the border will glow in the dark, just like the rest of the exposed material.

How to Match Your Artwork Background With the Border (Vinyl Only)

If you want a seamless look on vinyl:

  1. Note the exact color of your artwork's background (e.g., the hex code or RGB/CMYK values).
  2. In the editor, select your sticker and adjust the border color to match.
  3. You can also adjust the padding color to the same value for a fully unified look.

This technique works best with solid-color backgrounds. For gradient or textured backgrounds, a small color difference at the border edge may still be visible.

Quick Summary

  • Vinyl: Full control over border color and padding color. You can match them to your artwork.
  • All other materials: Border and padding reflect the material's natural appearance. No custom colors available.
